This Sunday's Goring 10k has been CANCELLED
(Fri 2nd Mar @ 18:15)
Following a further course inspection, we are now as certain as we can be that key parts of the route will not be safe for runners on Sunday - even if there is a thaw. Our concerns for the safety of all involved must take priority and as such, very regrettably, this year's race has been cancelled. We will be sending an email to all runners in due course with respect to refunds.
(Fri 2nd Mar @ 14:50)
As the snow continues to fall - and following an inspection of the course - Sunday's run is looking unlikely. Whilst many of the road surfaces may improve with tomorrow's forecasted thaw, we have concerns with specific areas of the course where snow is deep, compacted or sheltered. At the absolute latest we will make a decision by 4pm Saturday but may be in a position to advise you before then - we will do our best.
(Thu 1st Mar @ 13:00)
The forecast has worsened since our last update but still suggests thawing temperatures on Saturday, and we currently expect the race to go ahead. We will be monitoring the weather carefully before making a final decision. We know you'll want us to make a decision as soon as possible (we're runners too!), however we also don't want to cancel the event unnecessarily. We will make the final decision as early as we can and in any case by 4pm on Saturday.
(Wed 28th Feb @ 14:00)
As things stand we expect rain and temperatures above zero for 24 hours before the scheduled race start. Based on that forecast we do expect the race to go ahead. The decision will be taken in consultation with the highways authority and police. Please continue to check the website between now and Sunday as we will update it as soon as we can if anything changes.
In the event that we are forced to cancel the event due to adverse weather we will email you within 1 week, offering you a full refund. Please appreciate that this would be an extraordinary situation and administering refunds would a significant task. We will make every effort to handle your requests as soon as possible but your patience would be much appreciated. (Any delay will not be an attempt to make interest on your money – the banks don’t pay any!)
The next Goring 10k will take place on Sunday 4th March 2018.
Set in beautiful countryside and with chip-timing, closed roads and free flapjack, the Goring 10k is widely regarded as one of the most enjoyable 10k races in the UK.
